Beyond Any Doubt
I eventually opened the box labelled magic—
Up popped an already lit candlestick—
And in that breathtaking moment,
I accidentally blew the flame out.
I repeatedly restored the marvellous magic
With several boxes of matchsticks,
And in each new, brief bestowment,
I’d again accidentally blown it out.
I finally applied a torch for a steady magic—
Everything everywhere went up in smoke so thick—
And in those unseen, breath-taking moments,
I sat intentionally inhaling, bewitched beyond a doubt.
