Since staring at the blue light bulb
Inside the open closet
From my crib in a dark room
I tried contacting, connecting
Until sleeping up in the clouds

A child befriending the moon
Outside the rear window
No matter how fast the car sped away
There it was trailing, transmitting
Until keeping up with the night

The stars meant so much as a teenager
Dipping down to scoop up my dreams
Leaving me dancing an unrestrained hope
Ever lost romancing, reeling
Until weeping up a storm

Then the Milky Way in pitch black
While I lay across a desert rock
An overawed young man
Suddenly grasping, growing
Until leaping up to the sun
